It's great that you sound so excited for this class. I really like the background that you have chosen for your blog. I also noticed while scrolling through your blog that Sita's treatment at the end of the Ramayana annoyed you as much as it did me. I know it was a different time period, but the feminist in me is still quite agitated, and it's good to know that someone else feels the same way.
ReplyDeleteHi Sahra! I am very excited to continue reading your storybook. I can't wait to hear about all the stories from you childhood that your parents told you. I think that this is a very creative way to do the storybook project. On the introduction, I kept wondering what sort of stories you are going to be telling. Will they just be stories of the Indian Epics or are you going to expand into different things? Maybe you can include a brief overview of what you are going to be writing about in your introduction. This will draw readers in even more than they already are. As I was reading, I came across a few spelling errors that you may want to take a look at. They are as follows:
ReplyDeleteEnd of the third paragraph you say "kids I can find use these stories"
End of the fourth paragraph you say " I hope you with enjoy taking this trip down memory lane"
Also, this sentence in the fourth paragraph is a bit awkward..."I hope to keep the tradition alive of spending time with the people that you love."
I really like the design of your webpage, however you may consider changing the font that your story is written in. The rest of you page is very soft as if you are putting a child to sleep while the font gives the story a very mechanical feel.
Overall, great job and I'm excited to read more of your stories!
Hi Sahra, Great idea for a storybook! I am doing a portfolio but when I thought about a storybook I definitely wanted to go a bedtime storybook route like you are doing. I really enjoy reading original bedtime stories. As an adult I feel like I appreciate them much more than I did as a child, especially poetry.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the layout of your web page goes, I like it. It is very simple and I could easily navigate it with little confusion.
I might suggest when explaining the type of stories your parents told you as a child explain a little more in depth what type of stories. Were they Indian epic stories? You say, "...about mischievous monkeys and the man as well as the tragic love story of the Prince and Princess." Who are these mischievous moneys, man, price, and princess you talk about? Or maybe you can add a sentence or two about how if we continue reading we will be able to find out to add some intrigue.
Other than that great intro to your storybook!
